long time no draw.

Always tempted to do some fashion illustrations... and recently a photographer friend Tian Xing asked me to add some graphics on his photos for Men's Uno magazine. Technically this is consider my first attempt on fashion illustrations, even though it was another tight timeline project but I was quite enjoy doing it.

These images have already been published on Men's Uno magazine, February 2010. Can't wait to collaborate with Tian Xing again on pretty female model's shots next time :P

Tomodachi

Been promised Mari-chan that I will design a namecard for her about 2 years ago, and in return she will make me a Robonut plush toy! Apparently she had already made it and mailed to me while I was in Shanghai, but I never received it, it was long gone...

By having more time alone recently, I finally made a namecard for her. Based on the fact that all Mari's works are handmade and each of them are totally unique and different, I decided to make a stamp instead so she can DIY her own cards as well.



The Robonut's plush was lost, but in the end she gave me another 'nuts'! Really love these special peanuts. Kawaii! Arigatou gozaimasu.

browsing copy

Last few weeks Roy passed me this book and got me to doodle on it for his 'Browsing Copy' project. The time line is really tight when it comes to me, so in the end I just go with the fastest method: cut, paste and spray. Since the original title is 'A Century of Thai Cinema', my idea was just to make the whole book feels like a movie countdown. Nothing marvelous...

Everything was a bit too rush, but I do enjoy the busyness. I should have think about more short term projects like this, at least I had a slightly more meaningful weekend.

for those who are sleeping

Back then in W+K Shanghai office, there is a comfortable cotton sofa lies right behind my desk. Everyday there is people hanging around behind me, chilling out, chatting, resting, or even sleeping. I used to take pictures of all these sleeping people with my instant mini.

Before I left the company, I decided to compound all these photographs into a tiny booklet (I love book), and gave out as a souvenir for my lovely friends and colleagues during my last day at work.

Some of them told me that they were really touched after seeing the book, even their eyes were wet. I felt so warm indeed... that was the first time I truly felt that design could really touch someone heart... Thanks for all the beautiful memories.

I will always miss you all, hope we can meet again real soon...

榴莲飘飘

These was done few months back then while I was still in Shanghai.
Just to compile my folios into a box set, including a cotton box, a book, booklet, poster and a CD. It took me few months and spent hours after work everyday to made all these happened. It can be troublesome and tedious to do personal portfolio. Beside the idea and design, I still have to shoot the works, touch up the pics, test print on different papers, and send it to binding, a lot of trials and errors going on too.

Although it's not really a mind-blowing job, and looks a bit like student's works in the end... But I do feel glad that finally had it done. It was always my dream to go to Fabrica, a creative lab that gather young designers who are 25 or below. Well, at least I managed to send my portfolio before my twenty-five ended, the rest have to leave it to fate...

And now I'm already 26. It is time to figure out my next target, my post-Fabrica dream. Anyway, check out more pictures of the work Here.

Grass Studio, is where I first started my career as a graphic designer right after my graduation. Working with the talented lecturer Herbie and colleague at that time, Lian Siah, is definitely one of the greatest experience in my life, I've learned a lot from them. No Grass no me.

Grass has the spirit of being alternative, has guts, and seems like getting better and better all these years. I'm so proud that I used to be one of the team, 各位老细大恩大德细佬实在是感激不尽。

Recently Herbie is putting up all Grass's works online, it's suppose to function as an open report from Grass to Dasein Academy Of Art, it'll be good if you can post your thoughts and comments on the blog, coz they are gathering some feedbacks from public. Go Here.

finally think simple act simple

Started from middle of 2008, It's already more than a half year i've been planning to work on my portfolio site. Doing personal stuff always can't see an end, everything seems not good enough and the changes are like forever...

Passage of the Red Sea

I have been really busy before the long holiday.
Woke up a bit earlier today and so i decided to post some new stuff here:

Just finish the Russian doll for Man&God Russian Dolls project.
Man+God is a project by Art4Soul. It seeks to explore the relationship between Man and God through the eyes and ideas of creative minds of different faiths and various cultures.

And so I did this Passage of the Red Sea.
To depict the miracle moment where the march of Moses crossing the divided Red Sea, just to bring out a thought when people open the Russian doll: Is the Red Sea divided by God? Moses? or You?

hello halloween

Our office was having a roof-top halloween party last week.
This is the first halloween party that i had ever taken part in my life,
i spent couple hours to fold some paper tetrahedron to be used as my costume, and also quickly designed a backdrop for the party by recycling some of my old works :D
